University of Exeter

Time passes so fast, in one month time my journey in Malaysia is coming to an end. I will be leaving to the UK to further my studies this January. A whole new journey in a foreign land. I'm feeling excited yet sad because I've to leave all my beloved friends. Well this whole long journey in Malaysia had been a great and blessed one. Really thanking God everyday for all the blessings he has poured in my life and all the great friends i've get to know through this journey. It is my honor getting to all of you, my friends! All the joy and laughter we spend will always be remembered deep in my heart. School years are the best years in my life, so to all students out there please cherish every moment in school. Well i will be studying in University of Exeter starting January 5th. Well most of you never heard of this university before, thus i would like to give a brief introduction.

University of Exeter is located south-west of UK. The university is ranked the top 15 university in the uk. Ranked 13 in the uk according to the Times league table. It was the 2007/08 Times Higher Education University of the Year. University of Exeter has been shortlisted for the Sunday Times University of the Year Award more times than any other university and has won three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for its research. It is ranked fourth in the UK for student satisfaction in the latest National Student Survey amongst full service universities.

Ten Good reasons to choose Exeter
  1. Consistently in the Top 20 in all major UK league tables. Ranked 13th out of 113 UK Universities in the Times Good University Guide 2009 (*published June 2008) and named University of the Year 07-08 (Times Higher Education Supplement).
  2. In the top 10 for student satisfaction for the last four years. Nineteen of our subjects are in the top 10 nationally with Management, Finance, Accounting, Drama, Human Geography and Sports Science rated no. 1 in the UK and English, Economics, Business, Archaeology, Geology, Classics, Theology, Physics and Medical Technology in the top 5.*
( *National Student Survey 2008, based on the average of positive responses across all survey categories for full service universities (i.e. excluding specialist colleges).
  3. Nineteen subjects rated internationally recognised for research (2001 Research Assessment Exercise).
  4. A campus University providing a safe and convenient study environment http://www.exeter.ac.uk/virtualtours/
  5. An on-campus part time employment service "The Works" gives information on term time work, skills and training opportunities provided by the Careers and Employment Service.
  6. Guaranteed accommodation for unaccompanied international students for at least the first year of their studies (providing they apply by the deadline).
  7. A survey in Spring 2006 of over 18,400 international students at 27 UK universities rated Exeter the ‘best place to be’. The city of Exeter which is located 2.5 hours from London offers the best of both worlds: an economically prosperous regional capital with good transport links and the quality of life one would expect of an historic cathedral city.
  8. With just over 14,000 students including 3,500 postgraduates the University is large enough to offer all the facilities one would expect but small enough to retain a personal and friendly atmosphere. There are more than 100 societies, a student-run newspaper, tv and radio station and 50 sports clubs (hyperlink to: http://www.guild.exeter.ac.uk/ ) ensuring you will always have something to do.
  9. The University is ranked in the top 10 nationally for learning resources. Academic facilities include libraries, 24-hour access computer rooms and free IT and study support services. In-sessional English Language tuition is available free of charge to all international students.
  10. Reasonable tuition fees and a variety of scholarships (hyper link to: http://www.admin.ex.ac.uk/academic/scholarships/ )

"
